Garlic & Herb Bread

Wonderful crusty bread!


Mix gently and let sit to test yeast:
2 cups lukewarm water
1 TBSP. yeast
1 TBSP. sugar

In mixer, place and mix:
6 cups flour
2 tsp. salt


When yeast is bubbly, add yeast mix to flour mixture, using dough hook.

Blend until dough forms a ball. Knead on counter if necessary, until smooth.

Coat bowl and dough with oil. Let rise until double - about an hour.

Punch dough down, roll on counter and divide into 6 equal parts. Using your hands, form each sixth into a long thin shape. Twist 2 lengths together to form a "braid". Let rise again until double.

When risen, brush tops of braids with 1 egg yolk (for all).

Sprinkle about 2 TBSP. minced garlic over loaves along with about 1 TBSP. kosher salt and 1 TBSP oregano.

Bake: 350 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes
