A quilt guild in Corning, New York

About Us

The Schoolhouse Quilters Guild of Corning was created seventeen years ago in September of 2002 as a way for us to gather to enjoy some time with friends and to share our love of quilting. Our group of 26 members meets twice monthly at the Riverside Village Center and has occasional full day workshops throughout the year.

Try Your Hand at Paper Piecing

This cute wallhanging from Moda Bake Shop is constructed using the paper piecing technique. It is a good project for a beginner to learn the process and is adorable when finished!

Quilts of Valor Project

Each year we endeavor to contribute to the community in some way. This year we are constructing quilts of valor through the exchange of fabric and team sewing to create two wonderful quilt tops to donate to the Southern Tier Quilts of Valor organization.

Our Star Quilt is utilizing the "Lucky Star" pattern, by Atkinson Designs. Quilt members on this team shared their stash of red and blue fabrics to create the centers and sashing for this quilt. The background fabric was purchased by our guild.

Our second quilt is a floating Ohio Star pattern using the team's stash fabrics for the patchwork blocks. Our guild purchased the star fabric.

Here is the link to the pattern if you wish to create this quilt, or why not donate a block to the Quilt of Valor Foundation for 2019: Quilt of Valor Foundation Challenge 2019.
